There were children with “special needs” who faced problems in paying attention, expressing emotions and a few with speech delay. During the first session, these children seemed quite upset and reluctant in participating in the musical activities.
In the next session, we still repeated the same thing and encouraged these children to explore in their own terms. They sat beside me and started being attentive and also made eye- contact. Slowly, this musical intervention started to form a relationship with me as a trainer and music.
After a few sessions, they started developing trust and eventually they seemed to enjoy. For the first time ever, they sat for 35 mins straight with full focus and involvement.

Music therapy has been beneficial for children. They found that music allows them to express and share their feelings and emotions, and that theydon’t need to use verbal communication to communicate with their surroundings. Also, music therapy gave children the possibility to connect and form meaningful relationships, to be heard, acknowledged and valued, which for someone like them is a new experience.
