The Slice Of Life – Part 2

The day when that question aroused in my mind, “What would be left when there is no one exist in this universe?” This question triggered me deep for years. I always wondered about does anyone really knows about what is life. Our purpose of life. So many questions running within myself like a fierce tunnel. An endless discussion with my dad.  He made me experienced the moment that we call “Now.” Then I started reading various books written by Eckhart Tolle, J Krishnamurthy, Ramana Maharshi and so on.

I came across many realisations that, one of the most common and destructive daily habit is to constantly compare your life and yourself to other people and their lives. Surprisingly, we all compare cars, houses, jobs, shoes, money, relationships, popularity and so on.

At the end of the day, we pummel our self – esteem to the ground and create a feeling of dissatisfaction within and perhaps also outside of ourselves.

So what can you do? Is there a way to handle this habit?

The key is to be conscious at all the times that you cannot win if you compare yourself to others.

Consciously realising this is helpful.

No matter what you do you can pretty much always find someone else in the world that has more than you or is better than you at something?

Yes, you may feel good for a while when you get a nicer car than your neighbour.

But a week or two later you’ll see someone from the next block with an even finer car than yours.

The best way is to consciously being aware of you from moment to moment. It’s a healthy comparison, believe me.

See how much you have grown, what you have achieved, and what progress you have made towards your goals.

This awareness has the benefit of creating gratitude, appreciation and kindness towards yourself as you observe how far you have come, the obstacles you have overcome and the good stuff you have done.

You feel good about yourself without having to think less of other people.

You can make this habit stick by for instance taking a few minutes each day or just each Sunday (or any day that fits you) to use a journal to write down how you have grown, how much closer you are to your dreams and goals now and what you have overcome and learned.

My journey started with this simple practice and today I feel great sharing these beautiful insights with all the readers and I will continue sharing my insights in my next blog.

Till than take care and stay tuned!!
